rick: I'm glad that you've gotten some comfort out of my story. You're right that cookie cutter approaches to depression definitely don't work, and everyone has to find their own balance of therapy, lifestyle changes, and antidepressants.

Obviously I'm not a medical doctor, and not an expert on antidepressants, but one bit of advice I've been given is to investigate different medicines, if one doesn't seem to be working. Everybody is different, and an AD that works for one person will have little effect on another. If you have a doctor who isn't sympathetic to your difficulties and willing to work with you to help you feel better, it's a good idea to get a second opinion.

i cant believe what i read. for the most part those feelings are a mirror of mine. i felt myself tearing up while reading this blog. i can't tell in words what this has meant to me.the exercise bit really hit home.i am currently on antidepressants and in therepy but, will admit am at a ropes end. this is the third attempt at antidepressants i hate it . life should not be lived as a lab rat. i agree with you wholeheartedly for your comment about the people who casually say "just get over it " i might add that that cookey cutter approach to problems only makes people who suffer feel worse. it adds to the misery .you quite possibly have saved my life. thank you.
