It’s strange that this occurs in such a technology-oriented city.

This is a problem I’ve seen in high-priced hotels in many cities. It really irks me that I can get a room at a Holiday Inn for $100 which will provide free wifi, but a $200 “fancy” hotel will charge me extra for inferior internet service.

Oh, and sorry about the weather. It’s generally much less rainy.

I’m planning to fire off an angry letter to the chamber of commerce! :) A local friend pointed out that it seems to rain every year at Photonics West. Apparently the SPIE picked the one week a year that is most likely to have rain…
