• A very surprising paper – movement of a landslide controlled by atmospheric tides. I guess I knew that landslides were sensitive, but I didn’t know that they could be this sensitive! Dr. Dave at Dave’s Landslide Blog describes evidence that the motion of a particular landslide is strongly influenced by the changes in atmospheric pressure associated with daily cycles.
• charles darwin and otto hahn’s alien fossils. Greg Fish at weird things introduces some hints at Darwin’s views on the origins of life on earth.
• Anime film characters: Do we perceive the intended race, or our own? I’ve fallen into this bias! Dave Munger at Cognitive Daily describes a study that demonstrates that we are all likely to see a bit of ourselves in anime characters.
