This is just a short post to note that my book was reviewed, positively, in the OSA optics magazine Optics & Photonics News! I’ve excitedly posted this information on Twitter, Facebook, and Google+, but I figure there are folks that don’t follow me there.
I was wondering when, or even if, I would actually get a review in a science magazine! It’s a relief to see a good one out.
Working on several news science posts, the first of which will probably be published on the weekend.
Hooray, publicity!
Do you have a response to the reviewers question, “What creates the “wall” over which students seemingly will not climb to take mathematics into their various domains of application?”
“Do you have a response to the reviewers question…”?
My whole book strategy is a partial response to that question — namely, that math & physics/optics are often taught as very distinct topics, with the connections not being directly made in either class. My book attempts to break down that wall/keep it from forming by introducing the optics directly alongside the math, and in much more detail than saying, “Hey — this math can be used in optics!”
